welcome...
ThinkSync Films has launched its competition for independent film makers for the third year running. We launched this year’s contest in conjunction with the broadcast of an exclusive MTV2 120 Minutes show on 23rd November 2007, which featured highlights from some of the best entries from the last two years of the competition alongside interviews with the directors and judges of 2007’s short listed films.
The competition rewards the most skilful and appropriate use of the music within the film. It should not bear any resemblance to a ‘music video.’
We are delighted to announce that ALL entrants to this years ThinkSync Films competition will receive a years free membership to Shooting People.
The theme
After weeks of deliberation, we have decided that the theme for this year’s competition is ‘?’, with each film maker allowed to interpret this in any way they see fit.
The music
In addition to our increased presence across numerous esteemed film festivals, we are also excited to welcome some new music partners onboard this year. Numerous top independent labels and publishers are offering a selection of tracks for film makers to use within their film – these include Ninja Tune, Rough Trade, Big Dada, Bug Music, Bella Union, Chemikal Underground, The Leaf Label, Catskills, Fat! Records, Saddlecreek, Central Control Ltd, Southern Fried Records, Just Music, Digital Hardcore Recordings, Rotters Golf Club, Against The Grain and Notting Hill Publishing.
There is a selection of over 35 tracks covering a variety of genres and artists from electronic and instrumental through to hip hop, drum & bass and rock.
The deadline
This year's deadline for competition entrants is Friday 6th June 2008.
The prizes
We are offering a prize of £1000 to the winner, and additional prizes will be announced in due course.
The award event & screening
The five finalists will be screened as part of a special event which will also include performances from some of the labels involved.
This year’s ThinkSync Films promises to be extra special as our event & screening of the finalists will take place in conjunction with the 10th anniversary Rushes Soho Shorts Festival. We also feature programming at Raindance Film Festival and other festivals including the re-branded London Short Film Festival in January 2008.
