Jonathan Caouette’s new documentary about Raindance

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

At the end of last year Thinksync Music worked with ‘indie legend in the making’, Jonathan Caouette supplying the music for ‘Making of the 15th Raindance Film Festival’which as the title suggests was a short film about Raindance (commissioned by Canon) documenting the making of their 15th film festival. The catch was they needed to film it, edit it, and screen it within 12 days. Jonathan managed to pull it off. The film features some great interviews and really captures the goings on of an indie film fest.

Robert Hindle director of last year’s Thinksync competition ‘New Light of Tomorrow’ works on his feature film

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Robert Hindle is making a feature film entirely on his own and as if that’s not enough, he is documenting the whole process with the help of his girlfriend on what is fast becoming one of the most popular film related channels on youtube!  He is the actor, the editor, the set designer, director, colourist, best-boy and gaffer - in fact he is every role in the entire credits list - and he’s filming under the harsh conditions of the Swiss Alps.  His video blogs - documenting the process - have earned so many UK and global youtube honours that it would be a blog in itself to list them - but they include the 21st most responded video in the UK IN ALL TIME; as well as the daily honours of the 1st top rated and 1st most responded videos in the UK - for every video he has posted.

Part comic, part educational, the videos are addictive - with comments expressed, that the viewers feel like they’re going on the journey with him; that they’re increasingly late for work every time a new video is uploaded; and that they’re more addicted to this than they were with the first season of Jailbreak!  His comments range from the inspired filmmakers who have felt the kick up the bum to overcome that obstacle blocking their path; to parents watching with their children; loners in the outbacks of nowhere; to highly credited Hollywood professionals.

Some of you may remember Robert from last years Thinksync competition, after he was shortlisted with ‘New Light of Tomorrow’, and he hopes to enter this years competition with the theme of ‘?’, possibly with a drama/thriller.

If you’re interested in watching - you can find him at www.youtube.com/thelonefilmmaker and in Robert’s own words, “Witness the struggle, the setbacks, the highs and lows as I fight the odds; and see the process of filmmaking like never before.”
